Why this blog?

So more or less since january 1st I've been bored, mostly technically, both at work and in private. I havne't felt that I developed personally for a long time.

In a meeting with my manager, we discussed this feeling, especially feeling bored and also the feeling of wanting to do more. And we talked about a couple of areas within software development, that are of interest to me.

During the summer I spent a lot of time thinking about this, besides playing Stardew Valley and Fortnite.

One of the subjects we talked about, while not being solely about software development, was cyber security. And I started to remember why I started playing around with code in the first place.

Around 6th grade (danish public school system) my older brother introduced me to HTML. And I remember that I felt like a fucking hacker. I know, I know, HTML doesn't have anything to do with hacking. But me and a friend started talking about wanting to learn how to hack. If I'm honest, I think we watched the Hackers movie a too many times... But then again, can you really? We fumbled around trying to guess FTP passwords, not that we guessed any, keep in mind we were around 12-13 years old.

A couple of years went, and we started talking about it again, now keep in mind, back then Google, let alone YouTube, wasn't a thing yet, but somehow we read that you should learn some kind of serverside programming language. So we started learning PHP. And that's pretty much what I've been doing since then. Working with and learning PHP.

But somewhere between then and now, I forgot why I started with PHP (actually I started with ASP, but we don't talk about that). And now being bored, has forced me to think about where I want to go now.

So I've decided that I wnat to get into cyber security. While working with PHP for over 15 years, I've come across basic subjects regarding cyber security, but I know I want more. More precise, I know that I want to get into penetration testing, and my first goal is become a certified ethical hacker.

The main idea about this blog, is to be a place I can use for my cyber security journal, documenting what I've learned. But I warn you, whoever is reading this, it will also be a place where I can ramble on about a lot of other subjects, like privacy and PHP. One of the next posts might be about this markdown CMS/blog system I've build in Symfony, who knows...

So welcome, I hope you will follow along, if not, thats cool, this place is meant for me.
